Positioned as a leading community dedicated to reviving and developing the field of handicrafts in a contemporary manner, the initiative kicks off on February 14, 2026, at the Wrth headquarters in Riyadh.
The "Wrth Community" aims to bridge handicrafts with modern design and technology while enhancing institutional and public engagement to highlight the importance of traditional arts. It also focuses on empowering individuals to utilize traditional arts in modern design methods, creating a stimulating environment for creative talents and enthusiasts passionate about learning and practicing these arts, thereby raising awareness, nurturing, and developing them.
This latest edition is themed "Traditional Architecture in Saudi Arabia," featuring panel discussions and workshops that shed light on Saudi architecture and its aesthetic elements. It aims to foster innovation and cultural awareness, while building bridges of cooperation among artisans, designers, and architects to create projects that merge authenticity with innovation.
The panel discussions track includes specialized debates on preserving architectural heritage between restoration and development, as well as the role of traditional construction in shaping identity and belonging, with the participation of an elite group of speakers. The gathering also includes workshops, such as "Details that Shape Identity," alongside a practical workshop on crafting a "Rammed Earth Censer." This hands-on educational experience connects knowledge with application, showcasing the value of details and raw materials in local architecture and their potential for integration into contemporary design.
