In preparation for the Hajj season in the year 1444 AH in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Royal Institute of Traditional Arts has collaborated with the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah to serve the pilgrims. This collaboration involves distributing prayer rugs to the pilgrims, reflecting the richness of traditional arts and cultural heritage at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah and the Haramain High-Speed Railway, a subsidiary of the Saudi Railway Company (SAR). The Institute was pleased to distribute these rugs to the pilgrims as they arrived safely and securely.
These distributed prayer rugs showcase Saudi traditional arts, featuring the beauty and harmony of Arabic calligraphy, embroidered with the word "Labaik" in the Thuluth script. The traditional arts displayed on these prayer rugs include geometric patterns inspired by the Al Qatt Al Asiri, as well as patterns inspired by palm weaving art. As well as the intricate carvings found on wooden doors in Najd, including geometric and botanical designs. Pilgrims will use these rugs with gratitude during their Hajj journey, carrying them with a sense of serenity and peace as they move between the holy sites, ultimately returning home in safety.
The Royal Institute of Traditional Arts is a leading destination for promoting the Saudi national identity and enriching traditional Saudi arts. It preserves and enhances the unique cultural heritage of traditional arts and related works, supports national talents, and encourages learning, mastery, and development of these arts.
