CollaborationsThe Royal Institute of Traditional Arts (Wrth) has announced its collaboration with the Riyadh Region Municipality to conduct a series of workshops in public parks as part of the “Makateb Madinati” (My City Offices) initiative. This partnership aims to activate community spaces, enhance the presence of traditional arts in daily life, and provide interactive educational experiences for the community in open-air environments.
This cooperation with the Riyadh Region Municipality aligns with the municipality's initiatives to develop the urban landscape and activate public facilities in accordance with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030. This effort contributes to building a vibrant society, improving the quality of life, and elevating the cultural experiences offered to individuals.
The workshops cover various fields of traditional arts, including woodwork and mudbrick construction. These sessions feature practical, hands-on experiences, such as crafting a phone holder adorned with traditional engravings and making a rammed earth censer (Mabkhara). Led by several skilled artisans, the workshops are projected to engage over 350 participants across multiple locations, including Dhahrat Laban, As-Salam, and Qurtubah.
This collaboration aims to raise awareness about traditional arts and enable community members to engage in practical experiences that strengthen their connection to cultural heritage. It achieves this by delivering interactive educational content that merges knowledge and practice within an open, community-based setting.
Furthermore, this cooperation reflects Wrth's strategy to expand its reach beyond traditional educational frameworks. By bringing artistic experiences into public spaces, the institute offers direct learning opportunities to the public, thereby contributing to the sustainability of traditional arts and establishing them as part of daily life.
Through its strategic partnerships, the Royal Institute of Traditional Arts (Wrth) continues its work to empower practitioners and enhance the presence of traditional arts within society, keeping pace with national directives to support culture, develop capabilities, and enrich the overall quality of life.
