About the course
Throughout this program, participants explore the key features of traditional Saudi attire across all regions, learning to identify suitable materials and decorations, take accurate measurements, draft patterns, and create complete designs using modern tools.
By the end of the program, they will be able to design and produce a contemporary garment inspired by traditional Saudi clothing, combining authenticity and innovation in a way that reflects cultural identity and supports the growth and sustainability of the creative industries.
Outcomes
By the end of the course participants will be able to:
- Identify the general characteristics of traditional costumes across different regions of the Kingdom in terms of form, material, ornamentation (decoration), and usage.
- Classify traditional costumes according to geographical regions using local images or local names.
- Employ local vocabulary and terminology specific to traditional costumes in correct linguistic contexts.
- Analyze the similarities and differences among traditional costumes in the various regions of the Kingdom.
- Master the skill of accurately taking measurements and converting them into a practical pattern (patron/template) suitable for garment execution.
- Execute a complete traditional costume using the original materials and fabrics specific to each region.
Entry Requirements
- Artisans and artists with experience or existing projects in the field of fashion and traditional costumes, aged 18 years or older.
- Successful completion of traditional fashion or traditional embroidery programs offered by (Wrth), or completion of similar accredited programs in the field of fashion from leading institutions, with supporting documentation attached.
- Attachment of a portfolio or certificates from previous programs related to the design and execution of garments (fashion/costumes).
