About the course

This program offers a specialized educational experience that explores the depth and beauty of Islamic ceramic heritage, through an understanding of its rich traditions in form, geometry, color, and Arabic calligraphy. The program highlights the continuity of this artistic legacy and its influence on contemporary ceramic practices, presenting it as a living source of inspiration that bridges authenticity and innovation.

Throughout the program, participants will transform the outcomes of historical research and museum study into initial design concepts, and then develop their own ceramic forms. They will also receive hands-on training in applying calligraphic and geometric ornamentation using contemporary surface treatment techniques through demonstrations, practical studio work, and critical discussions. This approach fosters a conscious connection between traditional art and contemporary creative practice.
