About the course
The Taif Majrour Art is one of the most prominent traditional performing arts in Saudi Arabia, embodying a harmonious blend of collective singing and rhythmic movement that reflects joy and unity in social gatherings. This art form is distinguished by its resonant melodies and steady beats, merging vocal and physical performance in a culturally rich and expressive display.
Throughout this program, trainees will explore the foundations of Majrour, its musical forms, rhythmic structures, and poetic meters. They will also learn the three essential pillars of mastery: singing, rhythm, and movement, through group exercises that enhance coordination, timing, and expressive performance, while deepening appreciation for the cultural heritage behind this art.
By the end of the program, participants will be able to perform Majrour with both vocal and physical precision, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of its aesthetic and cultural dimensions, and contributing to the preservation and revival of this treasured Saudi performing art.
Outcomes
By the end of the course participants will be able to:
- Identify Al-Majrour Al-Taifi as a distinct traditional performing art form in the Kingdom.
- Distinguish between the different types of Al-Majrour and their melodic and rhythmic movement characteristics.
- Apply the three core pillars of performance (Melody, Rhythm, and Movement) with harmony and precision.
- Analyze the poetic and rhythmic dimensions of Al-Majrour and their role in collective social interaction.
