About the course
The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) is one of the most influential international organizations established in 1945 to promote cooperation among nations in the fields of education, culture, and science, and to safeguard humanity’s shared heritage for future generations.
This program aims to introduce participants to UNESCO’s role in protecting both tangible and intangible cultural heritage and to explore its key conventions and initiatives. It also highlights Saudi Arabia’s registered heritage sites and cultural elements, emphasizing their contribution to sustainable development and alignment with Saudi Vision 2030.
Outcomes
By the end of the course participants will be able to:
- Define the history of UNESCO’s establishment and its primary objectives.
- Explain the key conventions and programs implemented by the organization in the fields of education, culture, and science.
- Analyze UNESCO’s role in protecting cultural heritage and its relationship to sustainable development.
- Identify Saudi cultural and heritage elements registered with UNESCO and understand their national importance.

- This course is open to all community members aged 18 years and above, who have a high school diploma or higher accreditation.
