About this course
Thuluth calligraphy is considered one of the most prestigious, precise, and creative traditional arts. Throughout the ages, it has been associated with the writing of Quranic verses, Prophetic Hadiths, poetry, titles, and decorations in mosques and palaces. It is named "Thuluth" (meaning one-third) because it is written with a thickness equal to one-third of the pen’s diameter, granting it a unique geometric harmony that has earned it the title "Master of Scripts" and made it a cornerstone of Islamic arts. One of its most prominent contemporary manifestations is its use on the Saudi flag, serving as a symbol that bridges authenticity and national value.
This program aims to introduce trainees to the history and evolution of the Thuluth calligraphy and its most famous masters, while providing the technical knowledge required for writing letters, connections, and phrases. It also focuses on developing the skill of imitation and refining practical abilities in drawing balanced calligraphic compositions.
