About this course

The Bisht is considered one of the authentic cultural symbols of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, distinguished by its meticulous craftsmanship that has been passed down by artisans across generations. This training program aims to equip trainees with the essential knowledge and skills related to Bisht making by providing comprehensive theoretical and practical content. The program introduces trainees to the history of the craft, its tools, types of stitches, and the main steps involved in the production process.
 

Outcomes

By the end of the course participants will be able to:

  • Distinguish between the characteristics and types of Saudi Bishts, including materials, motifs, and the traditional methods used in their execution.
  • Identify the historical evolution of the Saudi Bisht, its traditional terminology, components, and cultural significance.
  • Utilize Bisht-making tools with precision and safety to execute various traditional embroidery patterns.
  • Execute authentic Saudi Bisht patterns and employ them to create innovative products inspired by local heritage.

Entry requirements 

  • This course is open to all community members aged 18 years and above, who have a high school diploma or higher accreditation.
