About the course
An-Niqdah embroidery is considered one of the most delicate and luxurious traditional decorative arts used to adorn women's attire in Saudi Arabia, lending an exceptional brilliance that combines grandeur with finesse. This craft represents high manual skill in handling metallic threads (Al-Khoos) made of gold or silver, and manipulating them with precise geometric styles onto thin, delicate fabrics. The famous "Star Stitch" serves as a signature aesthetic element, repeated in an artistic rhythm that reflects patience and manual creativity.
In this course, trainees will explore the historical background and origins of the Niqdah craft. They will begin by identifying the specific tools and materials used, followed by learning basic embroidery techniques and how to handle metallic threads. The program concludes with mastering the authentic traditional Star Stitch and applying its aesthetics to contemporary artistic works.
