About the course 

This course provides an intensive introduction to the principles of designing a Portfolio and presenting traditional artistic works, covering its concept, importance, and uses in academic and professional contexts. It also addresses the fundamentals of selecting appropriate artworks, organizing content, building a visual narrative, and writing analytical descriptions of the works.

The course focuses on developing skills in image editing and arrangement, as well as designing attractive digital and printed layouts that reflect the trainee’s artistic identity. It combines theoretical instruction with practical applications, enabling participants to prepare an initial model of a comprehensive portfolio that professionally showcases their creative abilities and artistic experiences.
 

Outcomes

By the end of the course participants will be able to:

  • Understand the concept of a professional portfolio, its importance, and its diverse applications in academic and career pathways.
  • Identify the criteria used by academic institutions and the labor market to evaluate portfolios.
  • Select and organize their work into a comprehensive portfolio that reflects a clear objective and a consistent visual identity in terms of narrative, sequence, and classification.
  • Prepare a professional portfolio in both digital and print-ready formats according to appropriate professional publishing and layout standards.

Entry Requirements

  • This course is open to all community members aged 18 years and above, who have a high school diploma or higher accreditation.
  • An initial portfolio (if available) containing 5 works/samples (images of traditional artwork or digital files) for assessment and the creation of a development plan.
  • Basic computer literacy skills.
