About the course
Leathercraft is one of the authentic traditional crafts deeply connected to the lifestyle and environment of Saudi Arabia. This craft represents a model of manual creativity in manipulating natural leather, relying on specialized skills that begin with selecting and treating the hides and extend to manual carving and embroidery techniques. These processes imbue leather pieces with a unique heritage character and a distinct, one-of-a-kind personality.
In this course, trainees will explore the roots and evolution of leathercraft in Saudi heritage. They will start by identifying essential tools and raw materials, moving through the skills of cutting, shaping, and artistic carving, and concluding with mastering manual embroidery techniques. These traditional methods will be utilized to create contemporary leather products that combine durability with luxurious design.
