About this course

Palm Frond Weaving is one of the oldest and most traditional crafts in Saudi Arabia. It reflects the artisans’ skill in transforming natural resources -particularly palm fronds- into functional and decorative items used in daily life. This art form beautifully combines simplicity and precision, serving as a living example of the harmonious relationship between people and their agricultural environment.

Throughout this program, participants will explore the history and cultural significance of palm weaving, learning the steps of preparing raw materials and mastering basic weaving techniques. The training begins with creating simple items such as hand fans and gradually progresses to crafting more complex pieces like baskets and handbags. The program also encourages experimentation and creativity through the use of unconventional materials and color combinations to produce contemporary designs inspired by tradition
