About this course
This program offers a foundational training experience that enables participants to explore Saudi embroidery as one of the most prominent craft arts reflecting the aesthetic heritage of the Kingdom’s diverse regions.
The program covers the fundamental principles of hand embroidery, including an introduction to tools, materials, traditional stitches, and their techniques of execution. It also includes practical applications aimed at developing manual skills and precision.
Outcomes
By the end of the course participants will be able to:
- Identify various traditional hand stitches used in handicrafts across the different regions of Saudi Arabia, while identifying the regional origin of each stitch.
- Compare hand stitches from different regions (such as Najd and Asir) in terms of form, usage, and purpose, highlighting their similarities and differences.
- Design a decorative piece that incorporates multiple traditional hand stitches from diverse Saudi regions, strategically placing each stitch within the final composition.
- Execute traditional hand stitches using materials and colors that align with contemporary design requirements while preserving the original identity and traditional form.
