About the Course
Sadu weaving is one of the most prominent Saudi heritage arts, embodying the Bedouin identity through its vibrant colors and harmonious geometric patterns. This ancient craft played a central role in daily life and has gained international recognition, becoming a source of inspiration for renowned designers worldwide due to its cultural and aesthetic symbolism.
This program aims to equip participants with essential knowledge and skills in the art of Sadu weaving. They will work with raw, natural materials and learn the entire creative process, from preparation to the final woven piece. This hands-on experience will deepen their appreciation for the history of Sadu and its enduring role in national heritage and enhance their creativity in designing practical woven pieces of artistic value.
Outcomes
By the end of the course participants will be able to:
- Explain the history of Sadu and its role in promoting national heritage and understanding the factors of its continuity.
- Apply the fundamental processes for transforming raw wool into usable threads for Sadu weaving.
- Differentiate between various raw materials and apply methods for their preparation and dyeing.
- Execute authentic traditional Sadu patterns with high precision using the traditional loom.
- Produce a final, complete project that reflects the skills and knowledge acquired during the program.

- This course is open to all community members aged 18 years and above, who have a high school diploma or higher accreditation.
