About the course
Pottery is one of the oldest and most significant traditional crafts practiced by both urban and nomadic communities in Saudi Arabia. Today, it continues to hold value in the 21st century as a skill that merges art, functionality, and sustainability.
This program aims to highlight the unique Saudi expression of this ancient craft, embracing it as a vital part of the nation's cultural identity and carrying forward its rich history of art, heritage, and diversity.
Outcomes
By the end of the course participants will be able to:
- Identify the most famous regions for pottery making in the Kingdom.
- Understand the different stages that clay goes through during the production process.
- Identify pottery tools and equipment, and utilize them in a correct and safe manner.
- Apply fundamental techniques to craft functional pottery pieces.
- Produce a traditional-inspired ceramic artwork decorated with authentic engravings and motifs.
