About the Course
Pottery is one of the oldest traditional crafts practiced by both urban and nomadic communities in Saudi Arabia. Historically used for cooking vessels, incense burners, and decorative items, pottery continues to hold an important place in the country’s artistic and cultural identity. This course offers a rich and engaging experience for art and craft enthusiasts.
Participants will explore both incised carving (intaglio) and relief carving techniques on pottery surfaces. Through a combination of theoretical knowledge and hands-on practice, they will learn how to use carving tools, apply decorative designs, and shape clay surfaces in ways that reflect cultural authenticity while encouraging creative expression. Attendees will complete an independent project.
