About the course 

Botanical motifs are a prominent element in Saudi cultural heritage and visual identity. These motifs are traditionally hand-embroidered onto bed covers, reflecting the beauty and intricate details of the local environment.

This course offers hands-on training in the art of floral embroidery, using a variety of stitches inspired by traditional botanical designs that add an authentic touch that reflects the heritage of the region. Participants will complete an independent project.


Outcomes

By the end of the course participants will be able to:

  • Identify Saudi regions celebrated for their traditional floral embroidery.
  • List the traditional stitches commonly used in floral embroidery.
  • Execute various floral designs using the stitches learned during the course.
  • Articulate the importance of preserving traditional crafts and arts. 

Entry Requirements

This program is open to those 18 and above who have completed a beginner Embroidery course at Wrth. Submission of a portfolio of work in embroidery or traditional garment making is required.
