About the course

The Saudi Ardah is one of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s most prominent traditional performing arts and a powerful expression of national identity and cultural heritage. Combining synchronized movement, rhythmic drumming, and poetry, the Ardah is performed during national celebrations and social occasions, reflecting values of unity, pride, and belonging.

Throughout this program, participants will explore the history and cultural significance of the Saudi Ardah while learning its fundamental movements, rhythmic patterns, and core performance elements. They will also become familiar with the traditional attire associated with the Ardah and the occasions in which it is performed. The program emphasizes hands-on practice and group participation under the guidance of an experienced instructor
 

Outcomes

By the end of the course participants will be able to:

  • Identify the fundamental concepts, key elements, and occasions of the Saudi Ardah.
  • Recognize the traditional attire and musical instruments utilized in the Saudi Ardah.
  • Perform the correct posture and basic movements of the Saudi Ardah according to the approved choreography and sequence.
  • Appreciate the significance of the Saudi Ardah as a national symbol that reflects Saudi cultural identity and fosters pride in national heritage.

  • This course is open to individuals aged 12 to 17 years old.
