About the course
Gypsum is a mineral that can be turned into a pourable and moldable paste. This natural substance is a key material in traditional Saudi construction and decoration. It is distinguished by its pliability, cohesion, and insulating properties, making it ideal for interior design and exterior finishes.
Course participants will learn how to identify various types of gypsum, how to prepare and cast the material into various molds, and its decorative applications. They will create a unique gypsum product measuring 10 x 10 cm with a traditional engraving. Attendees will complete an independent project.
Outcomes
By the end of the course participants will be able to:
- Design a gypsum product with traditional engravings and decorations.
- Proficiently use tools for creating gypsum molds.
- Recognize at least three different types of gypsum and two sources of gypsum extraction.
- Summarize the cultural and historical importance of gypsum, including knowledge of ancient engravings.
Entry Requirements
This course is open to all community members over 18 years old who are interested in gypsum and engraving techniques.
