About this course
The Fundamentals of Floral Ornamentation program provides a practice-based introduction to the study, analysis, and development of botanical forms into decorative elements and compositions inspired by nature and traditional ornamentation.
The program begins with an exploration of the visual and geometric principles found in natural forms, introducing participants to key concepts such as growth, movement, fluidity, and proportion, and examining their role in the construction and development of botanical motifs and traditional decorative compositions.
Outcomes
By the end of the course participants will be able to:
- Understand the principles of structural analysis of botanical elements and their applications in constructing decorative compositions.
- Grasp the principles of natural growth and organic movement to effectively incorporate them into botanical ornamentations.
- Accurately draft fundamental botanical elements while maintaining line quality and balanced proportions among leaves, petals, and floral components.
- Apply reflection, coiling/looping, repetition, and color contrast principles to compose, refine, and scale floral motifs to exact dimensions.
Entry requirements
- This course is open to all community members aged 18 years and above, who have a high school diploma or higher accreditation.
- Preference is given to individuals from art and design disciplines, including students, art graduates, visual artists, and designers.
