About the course
Diwani calligraphy is considered one of the most prominent schools of Arabic calligraphy, known for its elegance, fluidity, and ease of learning. It played a significant role in the official and literary traditions of the Islamic world. The Saudi Diwani school of calligraphy is particularly recognized for its unique artistic qualities, blending authenticity with simplicity.
This course aims to enable participants to explore the most renowned styles of calligraphy that emerged across different eras, with a special focus on the techniques and characteristics of the Saudi Diwani school.
Outcomes
By the end of the course participants will be able to:
- Identify Diwani calligraphy and its historical significance.
- Distinguish calligraphy tools and use them correctly and safely.
- Produce a calligraphic artwork in Diwani script.
