Program Overview

The Apprenticeship in Stone Masonry provides professional-level knowledge and skills across several areas, including traditional architectural styles in the Kingdom—particularly in the Al-Soudah region—as well as documentation methodologies, heritage assessment, and the selection criteria for building materials. As part of the program, apprentices participate in the construction of a real-life model of a traditional stone building, under the supervision of craftspeople specializing in heritage architecture. This hands-on approach ensures the transfer of traditional techniques and contributes to developing a new generation of qualified national professionals.

The program offers enriching opportunities for those interested in traditional construction, and aims to foster a national workforce skilled in traditional building crafts. It equips participants with the knowledge, values, and both theoretical and practical expertise related to these techniques through direct engagement with craftspeople who have contributed to the construction of traditional buildings in the Kingdom.

An integrated program approach  provides students with a comprehensive learning experience and a unique opportunity to become pioneers in mastering a rare craft, helping to revive and reintroduce it, especially as interest in traditional crafts are witnessing rapid growth.
