The rushan our students designed and built marks the culmination of their Diploma course. The project was set in collaboration with JHD, who assigned Beit Al Mal for a study and the creation of designs and prototypes. The project focussed on rushans and windows. Students applied their research and craft skills to build a full-scale rushan prototype. In the research stage of the project students gathered many resources on the traditonal heritage of AlBalad from books, historical photos provided by JHD, as well as their own photographic records of today's Balad. A key part of the Diploma is to learn the traditional language of AlBalad in order to design and make contemporary building crafts that keep traditional heritage relevant and thriving.
