Mangour screens are an iconic part of the buildings of Al Balad. Diploma students learn the design and craft of mangour making in depth. This process requires meticulous attention to detail to accurately draw, cut, and organise the ginanas (wooden strips) that create the final pattern. Students use their carpentry skills to create joints and panels to frame their mangour samples, similar to those found in AlBalad's rushans.
Drawings; pen on paper, pen & markers on tracing paper.
